ABOUT

Over the past four decades, SAKYNO has grown from strength to strength. From humble beginnings in Crown Street to the 9000m2 that it now occupies in the heart of Johannesburg CBD, our business holds the wisdom, lessons and experiences of its founders.

In 1982,Hua and her oldest son immigrated from Taiwan to South Africa in search of new opportunities for their family. While they faced many challenges, as immigrant families often do, they were hard-working and determined to make it through. Their first business endeavour was at a cutlery manufacturing factory, where they were later joined by the other two sons of the family. During this time, the three brothers began to transform their business ventures through importing and exporting watches and electronic appliances; leading to the opening of SAKYNO in 1986 in Fordsburg. This was a major milestone for Hua and her three sons, as they managed to establish a multi-format wholesale store.

At Sakyno we are able to emulate the values that Hua upheld; we value loyalty, positive customer relations, and providing the best shopping experience to our clients. Created in loving memory of Hua, our premises also offers a coffee shop to our customers.

As a proudly South African wholesaler, we believe that local is lekker, and source many of our products from within the country. We also recognise the unemployment crisis in SA, and aim to mitigate it by providing employment opportunities and giving back to the community when we can.
